Goal: Work the land in a French vineyard
There’s always been something beautiful about France - even without being there, the general thought on France is a regal one; gorgeous and sophisticated - classy, even. I’m not sure why or how that originated - but I will attest to its legitimacy. France is as beautiful as any country can be, with its Eiffel Tower, Champs-Élysées, cafes, vineyards, castles and countryside. There are few ugly views in France - and out of my list, one of the more intriguing items are the vineyards. I mean, don’t get me wrong, the castles and the architecture are surely brilliant - but I’ve seen them already.

I have this dream of hopping from place to place around the world, working odd jobs to get by. I would love to be a fisherman off the coast of Greece, then the next week, be a barkeep in Germany. I believe it would be a tremendously enriching experience - there’s something gratifying about working with your hands, especially in the industries that used to make or break civilizations. One of these odd jobs would be working in a French vineyard, as I stated previously.
Fact: There are bout 27,000 wineries in France, with about 110,000 vine-growers who own at least one vineyard.
Imagine the feeling of accomplishment, breaking a sweat and meeting a goal. Not many people now-a-days can say they pushed themselves to the brink and worked their ass off for something meaningful - or even something as simple as working the lands of a vineyard. It’s not easy work, but I believe I would sit down and watch the sunset over the fields after a long day’s work - with some amazing French wine - and I would feel a calm happiness, a feeling of pride, that only an accomplishment felt by nurturing something with your own two hands can bring.
