If a drop in temperature isn’t enough to keep you from the course this year, there are some truly beautiful winter golf spots around the UK to keep you playing whatever the weather. It’s with you hardcore golfers in mind that I’ve chosen a few of the best courses for you to play, come rain, snow or hail.  With the amount of money you’ve spent on winter golf gear, you’d be crazy not to.
Ranked at 25 in the World’s Top 100 Courses by Golf World Magazine, The Hotchkin Course has been a popular destination for golfers for over a century.  Highly regarded as one of the finest inland golf courses in England, each of its 18 holes is independently impressive, creating a challenging but incredibly enjoyable course.  Located 20 miles from beautiful Lincoln, many local hotels offer special golf break packages.  The perfect course for a special winter golf break.

Home to some of the most memorable moments in Open golf history, including the famous ‘Duel in the Sun’ between Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson.  As suited to the elite of the golfing world as it is to the casual amateur, Turnberry is a real golf lover’s venue.  With a beautiful breeze blowing in off the Ayshire coast, Turnberry’s traditional atmosphere will take you back to a time before designer courses. Not for the faint hearted, The Ailsa Course is consistently ranked amongst the best in the world, and has its challenges.  Ensure you’re protected beforehand with one of Golfplan’s insurance policies, as you can never be too careful! With the beautiful Scottish winter backdrop, Turnberry is well worthy of a visit this winter.

One of the most famous golf courses in the UK, due both to the quality of it’s Brabazon Course and its affiliation with the Ryder Cup.  The Belfry has been the location of more matches than any other venue in the events history.  Sculpted from 550m acres of beautiful Warwickshire countryside, the two remarkable championship courses will prove an ample challenge to the most experienced golfer.  Offering 18 and 36 hole breaks over the winter period, The Belfry can provide the ultimate seasonal golf experience.
