Like many, I've lead a life of detriment - tough losses, the kind that shatters your entire being. From loss of family and friend to love and dreams. However, no matter what labyrinth of hallways await nor how many doors are bolted shut, I will continue to fight for a life that I will never look back upon with regret.
I am asking for donations to fund Eye & Pen and my future travels. The need has arisen because of the incident that happened to me in September 2012, where I was on a mission to find my true home - a place I've never known. I thought, why not try paradise on for size? Fate had a different plan.
While in the El Yunque rain forest of Puerto Rico, my rental car was the victim of a smash-and-grab robbery by a local gang. The thieves stole everything from me, all of my money, camera equipment, passport and clothing. Basically, they stole the clothing off my back. I was forced to return immediately to my family in the states and I’ve been struggling to recover ever since.

For years now, I've been restless and miserable - in search of who I'm supposed to be. And utterly unsatisfied with the typical cubicle-bound, soul-sucking day job that many people simply settle for. I can't be happy working the first 30-40 years of my adult life to FINALLY be able to live the life I've always dreamt of. By the time that you're 50 years old, you have sold so much of your time away for that house, with kids and that possible divorce. There’s nothing wrong with that life, but that life just isn’t for me. Fortunately for me, these things have never been part of my dream for my own life, however, unfortunately for me, I'm in constant search for happiness. Think of me as the lost explorer, searching for truth, desire, passion and purpose.
With your gracious contributions, I will be able to continue traveling, writing and continue forward on my quest of life-fulfillment. And I will continue to keep my website free to you! Freely you have received, please freely give. Thank you for your contributions, precious support and heartfelt thoughts!

Very sorry to hear about your loss Brandon. That is such a tragic blow to everything you are working towards achieving. I hope that this year is fruitful for you and you are able to recover from this. If I had the ability to help I would, but being a student doesn't do much for the books.

We're so sorry to hear about your incredibly difficult time. 2012 was a year of hardships for us as well, but with God's help we've gotten through it so far. What God brings you to, God will bring you through! Keep your chin up, and your smile on! Someday, you WILL see relief! :) Unfortunately, because 2012 was a year of incredible hardship on this end, I currently too have no money and am unable to help you in that fashion. However, I can do what I am able to: keep you in my prayers and keep the most positive of vibes headed your way! Best of luck, friend!

I see you have had a valuable experience and still have your health and optimism. Remember that if you have lived your dreams once, you can do it again. This time you have a foundation of knowledge and experience from previous mistakes. It should be easier this time.
Also, I get the feeling that you are not materialistic, so you might have eased back on website monetization efforts once in a comfort zone! This time maybe a target of $50,000 in vaulted precious metals should be a minimum wealth back-up target so that if you get robbed again, you don't miss a beat. It is not greedy to have a nest egg!
I realize that I do not know you and my advice is unsolicited but I hope it might help in some way...

Jason, thanks for your message.

I'm not really sure exactly what you meant... If it were that easy to have a nest egg of $50k, then by all means. But I haven't been blessed with that sort of backup. And no, I'm not materialistic at all, so you are right there

Hi, Brandon.

To clarify, my point about a nest egg was related to goal setting. You set yourself a goal of creating a location independent business and lifestyle for yourself. You achieved this. I bet that there are many people who would say that creating your business and lifestyle is MUCH more challenging than saving a nest egg. I just picked a figure of 50K but that wasn't the point.

You haven't been blessed with a back up nest egg, but you have a mind and spirit that has fought huge odds and became successful. Why? You had the courage, belief and staying power to fulfill your goal of the nomadic internet lifestyle. You can channel the same energy into creating a nest egg and a bit of security. Read "Goals" by Brian Tracy if you haven't already!

I hope this clarifies my previous thoughts!
