As Las Vegas is now one of world’s most-visited tourist destinations in the world, with a staggering 400,000,000 tourists visiting the city each year. Gala Casino have gathered all the weird and wonderful facts for you to look at before you take off to Sin City:
Hotels
If you staying at the MGM grand, it might be interesting to know that 15,000 pillowcases are washed there, every single day. The Flamingo Hotel Casino was actually opened in 1946 by Ben 'Bugsy' Siegel, a notorious Mafia member, using money from the mob. The Excalibur Hotel goes through 44,000 chickens and 15 thousand tonnes of hamburger meat a month. The Stratosphere Hotel tower in Vegas is the 5th tallest tower in America and measures 11,000 feet.

Marriage?
Las Vegas is the place to be if you want to get married with a wedding ceremony in Sin City costing as little as $200 and a wedding license costing just $55. 315 weddings happen every day in Vegas (I wonder how many of them are conducted by an Elvis impersonator?).

If you want to get married in Vegas, you don't need to take a blood test or endure a waiting period like in some states, but if all does not go to plan, a divorce in Vegas can cost $450.

Gambling
There are no clocks in Vegas casinos - proprietor’s wants their customers to lose all sense of time, so that they don't realise how long they have spent in the casino! For this reason there are also no windows - so gamblers don't see the daylight hours slipping away... Last year the city's annual revenue from gaming was $6.5 billion with 87% of Las Vegas tourist indulging in a little gambling. The average visitor to Vegas has a budget of $560 for gambling and it's estimated that there is one slot machine for every two and half Vegas residents. There are 1,700 licensed gambling establishments in Vegas.

The stuff we just couldn’t help but tell you…
The bright lights of Las Vegas make it the brightest spot on Earth when looked at from outer space. On any given night there is an estimated $30 – 60 million in the vaults of the larger casinos. The ghost of Elvis has reportedly been seen backstage in the Las Vegas Hilton on numerous occasions (he performed there when he was alive).

For some Vegas is more than just a fun holiday destination- 600,000 people move to Las Vegas each year.

If you want to know more fun facts than the ones Gala Casino have provided, click on the links above- there's so much to learn about the world's gambling capital! You never know, you might surprise yourself…
