What’s in store for 2014

I woke up today and thought I would publish a little blurb about what I’ll be up to this year. The next few months are all planned out, however, July and onward to the end of the year is a bit more of a mystery. While I’m still weighing out my options, I must keep in mind that as particular situations develop, my plans may change as well. I’m not talking about a relationship or anything like that – because being gone for 4-8 months out of the year really can put a damper on all of that rubbish. There’s a chance that I may be relocating and settling down (slightly) in Florida with a friend, but if that doesn’t happen, I’ll likely remain on the road for the remainder of the year. But until things become clearer, I’ll digress and move forward with my whimsical travel planning, expecting that I will continue my travels for another 8-months…
Aruba Trip: February 4th-10th
I leave in 6-days from the publishing of this post, and I honestly can’t wait! Ohio’s weather has been pretty awful, with the whole Polar Vortex craze, so it’s ABSOLUTELY time to escape to the beach. I’ve only visited the Caribbean once before, to disastrously awful results, but I feel good about this time around. I’ve learned a lot, changed my travel style, and what I do and how I do it, and overall, I’ve become quite the travel safety master – plus, I’m a lot better at planning and also, on the flip side of that, I’m much improved in my random wanderings, just in case I need to wing part of the trip. Look out for upcoming updates and new posts about Aruba!

USA Road Trip: March-June
I first announced my plans for an upcoming road trip around most of the United States of America in September of 2013, but since then, the trip has really taken shape. Originally, I had planned to do this trip in 2012, but alas, timing wasn’t quite right. In 2012, I was still trying to conquer the new lifestyle of selling everything I owned, and packing up my necessities in my car – and then the whole Puerto Rico incident happened (as I mentioned earlier in this article). Fast-forwarding to today, all is well again and the trip is set to green light go. I have a couple of friends who may accompany me along the trek, and so in that regard, I’m stoked about what could become of it. My best friend of 24 years, Matt, is a budding young filmmaker, like I used to be, so we may very well produce a documentary throughout the road trip. I’ll also be offering daily (or every other day) updates on what kind of trouble we get up to, along with whatever we likely end up discovering too. The road trip will cover between 27-30 states, with a brief stint in Mexico, and a week or two in Canada. Be sure to look out for coverage, as time gets a bit closer.

Canada Trip: Late June
Separately from the USA road trip, I will likely be revisiting Canada again in late June, as I’ve been invited to tour many areas from Banff to the south-Canadian Rockies, by Canada's Tourism Board. The trip dates are a bit tentative at the moment, being simply ‘penciled-in,’ but I can’t imagine this trip being much of a bummer at all, I’m sure it will be a lovely experience – plus, I’m always excited to team up with the government offices of the destinations that I’m exploring.

And beyond…
As I stated prior, I am weighing my options a bit for the rest of the year, and even if I do settle in Florida, I will still be traveling often. I know that I will likely explore more of the Caribbean as I’ll be so close, but I have more adventurous plans in mind. I’ve written an article or two talking over my random thought process for future trips, and I’ve settled on a tie at the moment. I want a more life-altering experience, and for mind-expanding understanding and (perhaps) enlightenment, so I’ve settled on the idea of spending a few months in either Asia or Africa. Both continents offer destinations that would both dramatically change and humble me, allowing me to search within myself further, without distraction, where I can both grow and find peace.

What do you think I should consider? Where do you believe I should go to accomplish my great yearnings?

Hi Brandon, I'm looking forward to your road trip so you can bet I'll be following that journey closely! I think you should spend time in Asia. My son is planning a trip to Thailand in November so we've been visiting about that area a lot. I wish I were able to go with him but not this time. It looks incredible and I hear nothing but fantastic things about the people. Enjoy!

I am very excited about the road trip as well. I set out this Friday. I hope that your son has an amazing time traveling. I would like to visit Asia as well.
