A Dynamic Cook Set for Camping That’ll Save You From Struggle

Cooking in the great outdoors can be quite an experience, from a mixture of adventure to the possibility of having to endure some serious headaches. The latter is all the more true if you’re camping with a group of three or more, because not only do you need enough plates and/or bowls and silverware to get the job done, you also need a skillet and pot big enough. The problem then becomes how much space and weight you can handle on your trip into your campsite. Some folks like to camp in a designated campground, while others, like myself, prefer to get off the beaten path and adventure into the wilderness a bit farther, which means you must lug everything you need in with you.

When I first started camping, I would lug in some of my kitchen wares, which made for quite a burden on my back and shoulders, because not only were they bulky, but heavy as well. With time and experience comes wisdom, and that’s why I had to seek out a better, smarter arrangement for our camp groups. We went from lugging in too much to saying ‘screw it,’ and deciding only to eat out of those freeze dried packs that only required boiling water, to eventually finding a versatile cook set that packed up nice and neat, with the least amount of burden of space and weight. That’s how I found GSI Outdoors…

GSI Outdoors is an outdoors company, hence the name, that produces versatile camp cookware, stoves, dinnerware, drink gear, and more, each specific for campers like me who require a smarter, lighter option. I’ve worked with their stoves, cook sets, and water bottles previously and have always been blown away by the quality of the products, the ingenuity, and the ease they create in my own camping experience.

Recently, I had the pleasure to try out their Glacier Stainless Camper set, which is an ultimate 22-piece integrated cooking and eating solution set that marries the cookware with the dinnerware, which ends up packing up nice and neat into one lightweight package (at a mere 3 lbs 8.8 oz). How cool is that?! I was blown away when I first opened this cookset, because not only is it jam-packed full of enough pieces to cook for four people, as well as for them to eat and drink off of, but it’s also breaks down neatly into a nesting sack that can be used as a sink as well.

  • SIZE: 4 Person
  • WEIGHT: 3 lbs 8.8 oz
  • DIMENSIONS: 8.4 x 8.4 x 5.4
  • PRODUCT USE: Camping
  • INCLUDES: 3 L Pot, 2 L Pot, Strainer Lid, 9" Fry Pan, (4) 14 fl. oz. Mugs with Insulated Sleeves, (4) 14 fl. oz. Bowls, (4) 7.5" Plates, 4 Sip-It Tops, Folding Pot Gripper, Welded Sink

The Glacier Stainless Camper set is a compact set with a nesting design that takes advantage of optimal storage space, all within itself, meaning that the pots store inside one another, while the bowls and mugs fit inside one another, then on top, the lids, strainer and plates all pile on top of that, then to finish the packed structure of the set, the frying pan sits at the very top. Other clever details include a strainer that’s integrated into the cooking pot lids, grippers that fold and pop off for easy storage, and the rugged stuff sack duals as a wash sink, which saves many headaches itself when camping in the deep wilderness. I found this set to be the perfect setup for just about any camper, wilderness adventurer, and outdoors enthusiast. It begs the question: Why settle for poor food quality just because you’re out in Nature?!
