A Personal Testimony for CBD: featuring Hemptation Infused Goods

For years, I’ve struggled with anxiety, chronic pain and momentary depressions, and over the past 6-12 months, I’ve finally began to make headway into feeling better, more centered, and like my past, normal self. For 6 months last year, I dealt with middle-of-the-night insomnia with some nasty bouts of severe anxiety accompanying it, which lead to a problematic tailspin of negativities. Not only was I losing sleep, which was making me nutty at best, but I was having anxiety attacks and negative thought spirals down the rabbit hole that messed with my ability to be happy and to function.

I’ve been able to curb all of these issues with CBD or Cannabidiol, which is the non-psychoactive compound found in cannabis sativa, also known as marijuana. CBD is an oil extract that does not get you high, but is very healing in a lot of ways. In the world of natural medicines, CBD has been on fire as of late, especially in my home state of Ohio. CBD has been legalized nationwide under the federal hemp farm bill, and was put in a sort of grey area in Ohio up until about three weeks ago when the governor finally signed it into legal decriminalized status. CBD is a natural medicine that has a lot of people excited, but let me explain why…

CBD does not offer a high euphoria like its sibling THC or Tetrahydrocannabinol, which is the chemical found in female cannabis flowers. So CBD is finding a major niche in the natural healing department, because of its wide ranging medicinal benefits with few side effects, if any at all. CBD is proving to be a very gentle and very useful part of the plant, because it has so many medicinal applications. Where how many pharmaceuticals tend to have more side effects and negative reactions than their originally intended benefit, natural plant-based medicines are bringing us back to basics, before all of the science-base experimental medicines took a stranglehold over the world of medicine.

CBD is being studied for its anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects, and has shown to be promising for its sedating, hypnotic, anti-epileptic and anti-dystonic effects, among other healing attributes. CBD does not ‘get you high,’ as they say, but it will relax you, soothe pain, help regulate sleep patterns, can fight certain cancers, as well as stimulate bone growth, stop the growth of bacteria, suppress muscle spasms and convulsions, slow inflammation, reduce blood sugar levels, reduce the risk of artery obstructions, decrease pressure in the blood vessel walls, and help control epileptic seizures, reducing risk of nerve damage and some say it can even ease nausea.

I recently reached out to Hemptation Infused Goods who specialize in a variety of CBD-related natural medicines and other natural body care goodies. I asked to test and review their CBD Oil Extract infused with Blue Dream plant terpenes. Terpenes are plant extracts from specific THC strains famous for their effect, but are extracted without the psychotropic effect, leaving the aroma and flavor of that particular strain. As a writer, I struggle from momentary brain fog and my writing slows, my brain turns sluggish and the words come painfully slow. It happens to all of us. But I found that the Blue Dream terpene included in my Hemptation tincture helped me with my focus and memory retention.

I worked with Hemptation’s CBD-infused olive oil tincture with Blue Dream terpenes for about a month, taking drops sublingually. At first, I noticed better sleep, where I slept deeper and longer through the night, having less trouble going back to sleep after my midnight bathroom visit. My back pain seemed to ease up, and it improved even more when I had my wife rub a little of the oil directly on the spot that had been ailing me. I noticed my baseline mood as being higher and my anxieties kept at bay. It was a miraculous feeling, and one that I attribute to the healing power of CBD. Overall, I’m impressed with the quality and results of their tincture and can’t wait to try out other CBD-infused goodies. Lastly, I found the flavor to be mild and not disgusting, though some CBD tinctures can have a very herbaceous taste. I’m sure the Blue Dream terpenes assisted me there.
