Modern humans are a strange lot, and to be honest, sometimes I feel like an alien in human skin, because it’s difficult for me to understand why we choose to live the way we do. There’s little time for self-reflection and inner journeys, and there’s little respite for one’s own peace of mind.

Winter is a time where most people stay indoors, avoid the cold weather, the snow, and simply hibernate the season away, but for me, it’s a mixture of extremes. I do tend to hibernate for the holidays, spending time with family, friends and loved ones, yet I also try to always plan a trip that takes me out into the winter wilderness. No, it’s not because I’m mad, crazed or delusional, but mainly because I find it extremely peaceful.

As I grow older, and wiser with experience, I am drawn to what is more natural and that goes beyond food. For the past few years, I’ve studied greatly the art of herbal medicine, and in my studies, nothing stands above the natural plant that a medicine or remedy is derived from, which is why when it comes to modern medicines, I will always opt for the natural remedy over the artificial pharmaceutical. Modern medicine has been around for 200 some years, while herbal medicine has been around since the dawn of time. And through my studies and herbalist experience, nothing is truer.

You can come and go as you please, and you can go with the flow, staying in a place longer because you met really great locals, or you can move along if something doesn’t feel quite right.
