Carrying too much cash while traveling abroad in a new and foreign country is foolish, no matter where you are. But if you insist – keep in mind that it’s easy to draw attention to yourself if you’re carrying a wad of bills, so if you must carry a decent amount of paper money with you, split up your money and store them in several safe places – like hidden areas of your bag(s), in a hidden wallet-type bag, or even in your sock if you must. Either way, don’t carry more than you are willing to lose, and yet still be able to continue traveling.

Encompassing golden and white sand beaches, a rich culture and a culinary treasure trove, it’s no wonder that Sri Lanka gives holiday makers that little taste of paradise. There’s also a diverse range of things to do to suit every type of holiday maker, from exploring the culture and history, to snorkelling and scuba diving.
Sri Lanka is also home to some Asia’s most magnificent wildlife. With 100 areas of protected land and six world heritage sites, there are plenty of places to go and check out the incredible wildlife. The island’s isolated nature combined with heavy rainfall and varying altitudes means that Sri Lanka has a considerably varying climate making it a great environment for a diverse range of wildlife.
I am asked questions about all types of things – from travel-related questions to photography (of course, as these are most relative to the blog here), as well as personal and quirky questions. And besides the typical “Where should I go?” or “How do I do this or book that?”... One of the more common questions I receive are based on authenticity. People are curious about travel and want to do more of it, but a lot of people are afraid – they’re afraid for their safety, scared of bad things happening, as well as making bad decisions that could jeopardize the quality of their trip. For a lot of folks out there, their chances to travel are based on the amount of time they can take off work, which more often than not is so minuscule (like a week or two, a year) that it would be truly awful for them to have a negative experience while traveling – which is totally understandable.
Backpacking is the ultimate way to travel for those who want the freedom of the open road and who have a real sense of adventure. It should come as no surprise then that Finland is the perfect country for this lifestyle. With its clean air, huge, awe-inspiring wilderness and fascinating cities, there’s enough to justify months of exploration. Here are a few of the highlights you can find on your journey through this Scandinavian treasure.
Enjoying new experiences and exploring foreign landscapes is fodder for any loving relationship. Whether you’re in the midst of a 20-year marriage or celebrating a six-month anniversary, traveling with an affectionate partner can be the adventure of a lifetime.
“The most worrisome tragedy in life is the death of inspiration, where the value in living is lost and wild spirit ceases to cling to life. As if the eyes that had once seen and dreamed and lusted for color now glaze over and go forth unseeing. There is no greater sadness than the crushing of a soul, where fire that once burned oh so bright, dies and smolders forevermore.”
