The Danakil Depression (also known as the Afar Triangle) is a desert basin in Ethiopia, known for its vibrant colored landscape. The bright colors of green, yellow and red are composed of basalt rock, gas and lava from the underlying volcanic activity. This is happening because the mantle is forcing the Earth’s crust to slowly rift apart (at a rate of 1 to 2 cm or 0.4 to 0.8 in per year). The immediate cause is the continuous earthquakes and fissures appearing in the ground, allowing the valley floor to sink.
Some of what I’m about to talk about may sound basic or redundant, but you wouldn’t believe the amount of mail that I receive from novice travelers asking for help with some of the more basic strategies of saving money when purchasing airfare.
But then again, there may be some tips that you've never heard of until now!
There are endless post-production techniques, tools and actions that can help you improve your travel photography. Scenery photography tends to be quite moldable, yet fragile at the same time - it’s extremely easy to over edit. Scenery, portrait or journalism style photography can have a very fine line when it comes to post-production, and knowing when you’ve gone too far by over editing is important.
With these three basic tools available in Adobe’s Photoshop, you can exponentially improve your travel photos with only a few simple clicks of the mouse.
No matter how safe an area appears, there is always going to be some crime. And there’s always crime against tourists especially, because local criminals know that we are typically carrying the good stuff. Money, electronics and other valuables are never truly safe while traveling abroad, (or even in our own countries) but there are precautions that you can take to avoid becoming the victim. Besides some of the more obvious precautions - like blending in and not appearing immediately as a tourist - it’s a necessity to make yourself aware of common criminal themes and plots.
