People who have never been on a cruise holiday honestly do not know what they are missing. In the first place there is simply no other type of holiday that can compare with the convenience of cruising. One could literally see the world while having to pack and unpack only once. It’s possible to experience the vast majority of the world’s greatest sights and sounds and still come back every night to the comfort and warmth of the same familiar cabin.
The word ‘cruise’ may conjure up images of lounging on sun decks, surrounded by nothing but bright blue, tropical waters. But what about sailing past towering white glaciers, witnessing humpback whales and the electric green lights of the Aurora Borealis?
One of the most dreadful aspects of traveling is sleeping in an unfamiliar bed every night. The issue for me is that my own bed is fluffy, with loads of padding - it’s probably the most comfortable surface to sleep on, besides a cloud in the sky. I basically just fall into my bed and am back in my very own comfortable sanctuary, but when I travel abroad, I’ll be honest and tell you that I dread the beds that I am subject to spending nights in – especially the ones in hostels. So, I have to say that I was pretty excited to find out that times are finally changing. Some hotels, like Ibis are upgrading their mattresses – and they’re letting you know about it with their tagline, “Drift off in our most comfortable hotel bed ever.” Plus, the bunnies are so cute!
Dutch Airline KLM have launched a worldwide campaign ‘Claim your place in Space’, giving people the chance to win a seat on their first commercial space trip from Curacao, which aims to launch January 1st 2014.
Entering couldn’t be easier. On April 22nd, KLM will launch a special high altitude balloon from the Nevada desert in the USA. It carries cameras and a GPS to monitor and follow its exact movements into space. As the balloon approaches space, it will expand and eventually pop, its load floating back to earth on a parachute. Before we launch the balloon, you can predict online, where the balloon will reach its highest point.
The most accurate prediction of this place in space wins a flight for two to Curacao, a stay at one of Curacao’s luxury hotels and a unique spaceflight for one aboard the SXC Lynx spaceship. A prize worth over $95,000!
