Considering Natural Treatments for Dogs & Other Pets: featuring PranaPets

One of the biggest joys in my life is my dogs, as they are both like my children, providing me with positive moments, emotional support, and unceasing love always. Not only are they among my best of friends, but they are my babies, and for as much as they rely on me and love me, I return such devotion, because we’ve grown an amazing bond unlike any other animal. While it is of course possible to strike a deep connection with another living being, there’s no denying the symbiosis between human and canine. So, since they are my furbabies, I go above and beyond to make sure they have a full, happy, and healthy life, which is why I reached out to PranaPets to try out their CBD and natural herbal medicines*.
My oldest pup is eight years old, and she is starting to show signs of getting into middle age, with sore joints, occasional anxiety, and overall sluggishness/laziness. She’s always been rather lazy, preferring to sleep good junks throughout the day, and when awake choosing to rather lay around and do little of much else. So, I figured it might be helpful to try an herbal remedy to ease her anxiety, her sore joints, and potential of not feeling good each day.

I spoke with PranaPets and they sent me their CBD Oil for Pets, their Joint and Muscle Formula, and their Seizure Symptom Support formula for anxiety. I tested the Joint and Muscle formula, with the CBD Oil for Pets for awhile and she seemed to respond to both treatments. The CBD seemed to perk her up, probably by easing any aches, pains, while the Joint and Muscle formula helped her stiffness in the morning. This formula has the following active ingredients: Devil's Claw, Frankincense, Ginger, Glucosamine, Spirulina, Yucca Root.

CBD, for all of those who do not know, is an extract of cannabis, or marijuana. More precisely, it’s a cannabinoid found in the male non-flowering plant, which has no psychotropic effect like the more notorious THC cannabinoid (the one that ‘gets you high’), and is a compound found to offer a range of beneficial and healing* effects. For humans, it especially has a versatile effect in which almost everyone can find a use for. In pets, the full spectrum oil (which includes the whole spectrum of terpenes) has been shown to assist in healthy digestion and appetite, inflammation and pain throughout the body, nausea and other digestive problems, anxiety/nervousness and stress, seizure intensity and frequency, as well as healthy skin and fur growth.

The third remedy that I tried was the Seizure Symptom Support, which I didn’t see as much improvement for, but to be frank, my dog doesn’t have the anxiousness all of the time, so I didn’t give it to her everyday. There are times, since I live out in the country, where some country folks like to have poker runs where they run around on their ATVs, or they go out and shoot their guns like maniacs, and those are the times when my dog really feels the anxiety. And in those moments, I would use the Seizure Support and after a little bit of time, she would calm a bit. But even when a thunderstorm rolls through, she quivers and runs to a corner. I only look to the medicine to ease her distress, not cure her of actual seizures, so my review may not be help for everyone. This formula includes the following active ingredients: Passionflower, Skullcap, Oatstraw, Valerian, St. John's Wort. All in all, I was pretty impressed with PranaPets’ formulas for dogs, and will continue testing them with my dogs.
