Among all the entertaining activities for friends and families, escape games like escapehour have recently become the most popular ones. Escape games are physical quests where players need to solve a series of puzzles to break away from the locked room. These games are fun to play and let you level up your communication and problem-solving skills while having the quality time with your folks. Even though the key is in the gaming process, everyone wants to solve all the puzzles and get out of the room in 60 minutes. We’ve collected the best tips to help you escape an escape room so read them before entering the quest and you will be prepared for whatever is waiting for you there.
Choose the right team
Imagine being locked in a room with the people you feel uncomfortable to be with. Sounds not very exciting, doesn’t it? To get the best escape game experience, make sure you are playing with those who don’t annoy you after 5 minutes in one room. The more every teammate likes each other, the funnier the game will be and the more chances you’ll have to win within the time limits.

Be attentive
One of the most important tips for escaping a room is to be as attentive as you can and observe everything that is around you. Even the smallest hint or object can lead you to the successful getaway so even if you’ve already checked that box, don’t be lazy and look once again — you will spend much more time if you skip the things you think to be “useless”. We are not going to reveal all the secrets but don’t forget to look at these places when looking for the hints:
  • Walls;
  • Old books in a bookshelf;
  • Bottles filled with water or something.

Keep track of things
If you go to the quests that are not linear, there is a chance you find a lot of objects you can’t use at the moment but that will come in hand later. Choose one place where all the clues will be stored and ask everyone to put there everything they find. Once in awhile look at that pile of weird stuff and think whether it’s time to use one of those items.

Communicate
Escape room is a team activity and no tips and tricks to win escape room games can help you if you don’t talk to the people who are lucky to be locked there with you. Once you enter the room and hear the door being closed behind you, allocate tasks and try not to do the same thing all together. Make sure you announce everything you find as your friend may have the second part of the note or the key to the lock. It’s impossible to win the game by yourself but the teamwork can help you beat the record.

Keep calm
Whatever is happening inside the quest, try not to panic as it can take over the precious minutes left until the time runs out. Even if there are seconds left, try to keep the cool head and don’t start running around the room screaming something inaudible.

Remember about the Game Master
Even if it feels like you are all alone, there is always someone watching you (now it’s even creepier, right?). The Game Master can give you tips to help you get out if you got stuck. It doesn’t mean you need to ask for help every time you can’t solve the riddle but sometimes it’s more reasonable to call for escape room game hints rather that trying to open one lock for half an hour.

These tips and tricks can help you escape under 60 minutes but actually, there is only one advice that you need to follow — have fun and don’t get upset if something goes wrong. Even if you don’t come out in time, you will spend the exciting hour with your friends or family and this is what escape games are for!

My cousin has been thinking about going to an escape room during her free time because she thinks that it will be a lot of fun. She would really like for it to be a challenge, and made by a professional in order to make sure that it is safe. I liked what you said about how they should all try to do different things, and communicate what they are doing.
