Every frequent traveler knows how boring transport days can be. You take a car, taxi or bus to the airport, you take a shuttle to the correct concourse, you go through security, then you wait through the motions until your seating assignment is called. Then, you’re forced to wait for what seems like forever while the plane readies for take off, until finally you’re up in the air and you realize you still have hours upon hours until you arrive at your destination, only to reserve the trip by way of shuttle, bus, taxi, car. All this time, you’re bored out of your mind, wishing, waiting, hoping for the monotony to end. That’s why you come prepared with as many entertainment options as possible. This is something I’ve had to learn over my years of traveling the world…

Now-a-days, I come ready for anything. I always have my laptop available, so I can work on the fly, and I carry my iPhone, which is loaded with music, movies, audio books, podcasts, and games, because, well… you never really know when you’ll need to break up the tediousness. A solid pair of headphones are a must, because when you’re in a busy bus station or on a loud train, it can be damn near impossible to hear your music or audio books when there’s machinery booming or a chorus of voices around you. Upon my first trip to Europe, I had to purchase new earbuds that offered some isolation capabilities, because I simply could not hear the narrator of the Game of Thrones books over the din and racket of London as I wandered around. I’ve learned, you see, for as much as travel can open ones mind, it can also dull the mind and tire the soul, especially if there’s more transport than actual exploration.

I’ve recently had the opportunity to test and trial HighKey’s Wireless Speaker and Wireless Earbuds, and I have to say they’re pretty sweet for the price level. For backpacker trips, I’m required to pack small and light, or else I’ll pay for it later, so I always have to consider space and weight of whatever comes with me. HighKey’s Wireless Earbuds are perfect for this sort of travel, because they come with re-charging storage case that is about the size of the old iPhone 5. The earbuds fit inside the case and begin charging, and are capable of charging 4-5 times within a single charge of the storage case battery. They’re bluetooth and they support HD calling, and offer noise cancellation and a wireless range of 30-60 feet. The sound is dynamic for such a small size, with clear audio and a deeper bass than I was expecting. These are now my goto earbuds for most trips.

For other trips where space and weight are no longer concerns of mine, I choose either over-ear headphones or a wireless speaker. Especially when I’m camping or working outdoors, you will always find me with a wireless speaker booming my favorite tunes. I used to be skeptical about the sound quality of bluetooth speakers, but my, oh my, they have come a long way. HighKey’s Wireless Speaker is a beauty. It’s got to be one of the loudest wireless models on the market, so when you consider how small it is compared to its size, you will be as blown away as I was when I first tried it out. HighKey’s Wireless Speaker reached volumes of up to 92dB an can play music when underwater (IP67 waterproof rating), which is wild.

The Wireless Speaker has a USB port and is equipped with a 4400 mAh battery, so you can charge your phone 2-3+ times. It’s built to last with waterproof, shockproof and dustproof ratings. This speaker has range too, up to 45 feet and a battery life of up to 14 hours. The reason I like this speaker is because of the sound quality and volume, as well as for all of its versatile features and quality build. HighKey took a lot of pride in this design and that quality comes through within the first second of listening time. So, when you’re traveling abroad, set the mood with the music of that region with these earbuds, and then when you’ve found a bit of peace and quiet away from the chaos of the modern world, turn up the music up with HighKey’s mobile speaker.
