Today’s feature post is for the adventurer, camper and outdoorsman who values a lot of punch in a small form. Whether you’re a backpacker or a fisherman, or hunter, the need to pack well and for all occasions is as important for survival as it is in the craft itself. Either way, if you’re living out of your rucksack, or roaming the wilderness for your next kill, the weight and the volume and the quantity of your gear can seriously burden your experience and can alter your rate of success. Imagine identifying the need to carry a knife, pliers, scissors, a light, can opener, as well as screwdrivers and other tools, on top of all your other gear; see the same problem I’ve run into over my years of travel? Well, there’s an answer and a damn good one, by none other than Coast…

Most multi-tool contraptions are either very heavy and difficult to use, especially if you maintain short fingernails, or they’re extremely lightweight and weak, with tools that won’t last or are designed impossibly non-ergonomic and are more of a pain than a strength. It happens; I’ve purchased a few variations over the years and have had to settle prior to working with Coast on their LED155 multi-tool. The same moral of the story pertains to a quality blade, because there’s few things worse than having your one and only survival blade fail while you’re out in the middle of the wild world of extreme weather. The moral here? Test and find the best tool for optimum performance and survival.

Coast is one of those companies that excels at everything they make. I’ve worked with Coast for a little over a year now, testing their high end LED flashlights as well as their knives and multi-tools, and the result has been nearer the same with each… I’ve come away impressed with the quality and craftsmanship, and have incorporated many of their tools into my own travel and camp gear.

The LED155 Multi-Tool is a beastly and versatile piece that incorporates 13 tools that can help you manage and master just about any task outdoors. Sure, there are some specialty add-ons you may let to pack with you as well, but the LED155 takes care of most of the hassle and space taken up by individual items. The blade is 3-inches, while the body of the multi-tool closes at 4-inches, and the entire tool weighs 9.8-ounces – how cool is that?! Coast’s LED155 comes loaded with spring-loaded pliers with wire cutter, knife, two built-in LED lights, scissors, multiple screwdriver tips, a bottle opener, wire stripper, and can opener.

Coast’s TX395 Knife is a double lock folding blade, larger than a typical EDC, which is built to live on your belt. The TX395 was designed by former elite special forces members, which is why it’s one of Coast’s flagship tactical blades. It’s heavy duty, weighty, and built to withstand the worst. Coast boasts that this blade is capable of prying open an ammo box or breaking a window with its integrated glass breaker feature. Optimum safety features have been designed into this mighty folder with its double lock feature. Overall, the TX395 is strong and built well, and will provide one with a sense of safety and opportunity when survival is in question. It’s a 3.9-inch blade, with an overall 8.9-inch measurement when open, weighing at a mere 7.7-ounces.

This knife seems to be the perfect knife! If it is designed by elite special forces members, you know it is going to be good :)

Recently i`ve heard about Coast’s TX395 Knife, and the feelings like old traditions and the new merge in harmony.
