I’m off to Iceland

Tomorrow I leave for Iceland, the destination that has been at the VERY TOP of my ‘Must visit’ list for ages! I can’t wait, and I just hope the weather works with me for the 10 days I’m wandering about. I hear that it can be quite randomly drastic in Iceland, as far as the weather goes. Iceland is the land of Ice and Fire – sounds like a Game of Thrones book ;-). Speaking of fire, I fully plan to seek out some of those geothermal regions – and I hear there’s a few active volcanos milling about.
I definitely want to experience the Icelandic culture and people, and try some of the local foods, of course, but I’d be lying if I said my main objective wasn’t to take as many amazing photographs as I can. As you can tell from a quick look around my blog, I LOVE photography and I love creating eye-catching and epic landscape photography – the earth is beautiful, and I try my best to capture it at its very most interesting, picturesque, and vivacious moments. I’m quite sure Iceland will be full of them too!

As far as my routing, I don’t have a map available for you, but I intend (depending on the weather, of course) on driving around the entire island, after spending 3-4 days on the west side, because that’s where most of the cool stuff is, or so it seems! I’ll be traveling north from Reykjavik, following the Route-1 all of the way around the island since there are a lot of interesting parts of Iceland scattered around from there.

Here’s a few of the places I’m planning on seeing, as you may want to Google them... In no particular order:
(again, if the weather works with me – I’m sending my good vibes Mother Nature’s way, please send your prayers as well – haha)

  • Blue Lagoon Geothermal Spa

Have fun man! Iceland's one of my favorite places. I went for the first time in June 2012, and have been back two more times since. You've got quite the list for things to see -- you're doing it right.

I'm creating a series of 'anti-guidebooks' to places, and the first one is "Tales of Iceland," written by an Ohio guy (I'm also from Ohio). So if you're looking for a funny & informative book to read about Iceland on the flight over, or while you're traveling, I hope you'll check it out! The Ebook & Paperback are avail on Amazon.

I had so much fun on my trip! I was able to capture some amazing shots that turned out beautiful. The weather was a bit cold however, the time I had trumps that. lol. Have you been?
