What’s better: rock or hip hop? Jazz or reggae? Who’s to say? As many genres of music there are, as many or maybe more preferences you can find. If you are planning to visit Miami, you might be able to find out what makes your bones shake and lifts your spirit.

First, here are some quick tips to enjoy your experience. B.Y.O.W. “bring your own water”. Water at the venues is very expensive, so try to bring at least a bottle from home. Make sure you take into account all the transit options, if you are going with friends and want to arrive together, you might want to rent a van to pack your friends and a cooler full of goodies, but remember where you parked, it will save you a lot of trouble. Bring clear zip-lock bags with your favorite snacks, apples, string cheese and trail mix just to give you some ideas. Last but not least, get one of those portable phone chargers.

Start by going to Kaya Fest, where you can chill while listening to Bob Marley’s descendants Stephen, Ziggy, Julian and Damian pay homage to their father´s legacy. Here you can find artists such as Cypress Hill, Snoop Dogg, Pitbull, Sean Paul and Wyclef Jean. Named one of the Top 10 Music Moments of 2017 by the Miami New Times, this annual festival promotes unity, equality, and is one of the biggest reggae festivals out there. It proves undoubtedly that reggae will never die!

If urban music is more your style, you can attend one of the biggest hip-hop festivals in the world. In the five years that it´s been running, Rolling Loud that spans from May 10th to the 12th has become a force to be reckoned with. This year is not the exception, with acts like Migos, Travis Scott, Kid Cudi, Cardi B, Lil Wayne, Gucci Mane, and dozens more. “Sick” beats and catchy songs will make sure you are on your toes the whole time.

Maybe you’re the headbanging type, if that’s so, “Welcome to Rockville” is sure to test that. Starting with Korn, Evanescence, Killswitch Engage and Tom Morello´s crazy guitar skills on Friday. Then hitting you with Rob Zombie, Skillet, Judas Priest, In This Moment, and Black Label Society to cover everything from metal, hard rock and progressive on Saturday. If that wasn’t enough, on Sunday you get, Incubus, Tool, Bring me The Horizon, Papa Roach, Meshuggah, and Architects. We all may guess how crazy rock and metal concerts can get, add that to the Miami heat and the rest of amazing bands that are going to be performing, and you have a recipe for mayhem.

Furthermore, to cover our entire music basis, we have Sunset Music Festival. If Welcome to Rockville is sweat and mosh pits, Sunset Music Festival is glitter, glow sticks, and all the raving you find at major EDM (Electronic Dance Music) festivals. Skrillex, 12th Planet, and Alison Wonderland are some of the big names that will be performing for hundreds of thousands of people. You might want to start preparing your dance moves!

Miami has one of the largest and most diverse music landscapes happening every night from music clubs, live music venues, concerts, street music, and music festivals. Jazz, rock, punk, salsa, reggaeton, hip-hop all have a place here. Therefore, whether you are a music lover or just want something different to experience, whether you came walking or took a rental car, enjoy Miami’s whole spectrum of music culture and take the time to enjoy one of life’s biggest pleasures.
