Opportunity in Venice

I’ve always wanted to travel the world – the past few years, I’ve been blessed to do just that. I’ve always wanted to live abroad – I have for a couple of months now. I’ve always wanted to live in another country long enough to become an expat local – and now, the opportunity has presented itself. For the past few months, I’ve been writing various articles and stories for an online website, and after a brief and friendly business relationship, I thought it might be nice to settle down in Venice and take on a larger role for the company. While I’ve had the date of my ‘interview/in-person meeting’ for about a month now, I wasn’t really sure anything would work out exactly. But after a short 10-minute interview, I’ve become the newest part of the team.
With that quick meeting, everything was laid out for me to take immediate residence in Venice, Italy for a while. I remember when I first visited Venice in 2010, I said to my travel partner that I was going to live here someday. I was visiting the town for only a couple of days, in the not-so-peak season and I fell in love with the town overnight. I love that every little part is completely different than what I’ve grown up with. I love that Venice is different than anywhere else in the world. I love that I can walk outside my door and stroll over a canal, and the people and the nightlife are perfectly my style. Venice truly is a magical place. I think this will be a brilliant experience! I’m excited to call Venice home for the time being.

Don’t worry – this life-change won’t interfere with my ability to work with my clients or regularly update with quality material. I plan on traveling here and there, on some weekends – north-eastern Italy leaves me with plenty of neighboring countries and interesting adventures to check out. If you find yourself in the area, and want to catch up, please feel free to send me a message. =)

Awesome! I love Venice and one day would love to live there as well, at least for a little while!

You might want to join our Expats in Venice group on Facebook, we are a group of expats living in Venice and its province and we organise occasional meet-ups!

I'm located in Pordenone, about 40 minutes from Venice. We just celebrated 4 years of being expats in Italy.

Hi Brandon, good to hear that you got the job in Venice, it's a fantastic place! I remember you mentioned it when we where in Cesenatico a few weeks back, with the other bloggers. I'm based in Ravenna, by the way, near Cesenatico. Enjoy Venice! :)

Wow, how amazing...Congratulations on your new job and new home! When I visited Venice many years ago, I, too, felt "I want to live here someday"....It's an incredible, and, yes, magical, place! Well, I haven't made it back there yet, but hopefully someday...I'm a teeny tiny bit jealous, lol....:) And, yes, that is a fabulous image!! :)
