Personal Testimony: featuring CBD by R.I.S. Natural Healing

These days, the topic of cannabis legality is a hot topic in the USA. Where for decades, this now known healing plant was demonized and criminalized, but now with the education of actual truth over propaganda, with a big part due to the advent of the internet, cannabis is hitting the mainstream. What’s different between the 60-70s movement and now is that the use of cannabis is more focused on the healing and therapeutic properties of the plant than simply recreational drug use. But if you’re new to the subject of cannabis, then there’s some things you need to know…
In the cannabis sativa plant, there are a myriad of compounds that are produced exclusively from the plant, and while many of these chemicals are lesser known, there are a few big ones that are leading the movement. There’s the infamous THC or Tetrahydrocannabinol, which is the psychoactive cannabinoid that makes you feel ‘high.’ THC has shown some healing and therapeutic properties, but it is the next compound that is creating such a buzz as of late.

CBD or Cannabidiol is the non-psychotropic cannabinoid found in hemp, the male non-flowering plant or the stalks and leaves of either sex, which has been found to have inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects, as well as sedating, hypnotic, anti-epileptic and anti-dystonic effects, among other healing attributes. CBD does not ‘get you high,’ as they say, but it will relax you, soothe pain, help regulate sleep patterns, control certain cancers, stimulates bone growth, and stops the growth of bacteria, as well as it suppresses muscle spasms and convulsions, slows inflammation, reduces blood sugar levels, reduces the risk of artery obstructions, decreases pressure in the blood vessel walls, helps control epileptic seizures, reduces risk of nerve damage, and eases nausea.

I’ve teamed up with R.I.S. Natural Healing, who specializes in CBD infused body care and wellness products like CBD oil tinctures, topical salves, bath bombs, lip balms, and more. They sent a sampling of their products to see how work for my ailments. For the past year, I’ve struggled with chronic neck and back pain, insomnia, and anxiety, all of which were listed among the possible positive effects of CBD, so I thought why not, I’ll give it a try. So, this is what I noticed…
-I tested the CBD oil as an everyday dietary supplement. I typically would place drops from the oil tincture on or under my tongue and then a soothing, relaxing effect would come on within 15-30 minutes. For good days, I’d only do 10mg and for bad days, 25mg or more seemed to be the correct dosage. On those days, my internal discomfort, stress and anxiety would ease. Often times, I would wake up feeling not so great and then take my dosage and then forget all about the pain and stress, which was lovely.
-For my back and neck pain, I employed a range of their all natural CBD salves, like their eucalyptus, lavender and peppermint topical salves. A salve is a melted skin balm that has healing or pain relief properties, such as CBD, herbs, beeswax, shea butter, and essential oils. When you take a little of the salve and rub it what ails you, certain sensations may happen like a cooling, warming, or tingling effect, though most simply have a moisturizing and pain relief effect (thanks to the CBD). The lavender salve was great for fighting my insomnia, while the eucalyptus was more powerful for when I felt sluggish and sick. The peppermint had a natural icy feeling which helps ease tension in my back.
-Other products that I worked with were their lip balms and bath bombs. The lip balms worked great for healing chapped lips, while the bath bombs were particularly powerful for my worst days, like when my back and neck were aching, my head filled with fog, my nerves buzzing with anxiety, and my emotions and mood suffering… that’s when a bath bomb, in a quiet, candle lit tub did wonders for improving my mood and outlook, as well as comfort level.

All in all, I am impressed with the powerful effects of CBD or CBD hemp extract, because the positive effects far outweigh the side effects; which I’ve found to be almost nothing, but perhaps being a little too relaxed with a high dosage of the oil. R.I.S. Natural Healing’s salves were most effective for my body aches and pains, and have helped improve my quality of life. If you would like to learn more about R.I.S. Natural Healing, click here.
