I recently had the pleasure of a fine dining experience at one of Columbus, Ohio's best restaurants, The Refectory. Not only was the atmosphere classy and relaxed, yet moody, it was quiet, allowing for a private dining experience where only the flavors matter. The chefs at The Refectory took my fiancé Leah and I along for a journey of taste for the better part of two and a half hours. Each dish we tried had an explosion of flavor, many unique, as there were endless combinations, several of which that Leah and I had never tried nor thought to combine, yet came together in a flurry of fluidity.
I sampled the following dishes: Red Snapper, Blue Crab & Basil Terrine (different, but oh so delicious); Roasted Duck Breast with Pine Nuts and Rosemary Pesto, Crispy Duck Bacon, Cèpes Bordelaise and Mushroom Crêpe (fantastic flavor overall; I was surprised by the duck bacon. Yum!); Roasted Salmon Pavé with Black Truffle Bonne Femme Sauce (cooked to perfection); and the Fresh Fruit & Sorbets (which were a refreshing delight after a very filling meal.
