Victorinox Swiss Army released a new line of fine luggage recently and today, I am going to take a deeper look at the 100% polycarbonate series known as Etherius.

From my experience, Victorinox has been a name atop the mountain of producing some of the world’s best luggage. They may not be the most inexpensive travel option, but the reason being is everything they produce is of high quality, and typically cutting edge. And the Etherius collection is no exception.

I received the Global Carry-on from my friends at Victorinox and upon unpacking the case, I was pleasantly surprised by how sleek and modern the design is. The Etherius is a silver 4-wheeled hardshell case with an expandable middle zipper, which ranges from 34L to 78L.  The carry-on, advertised as the global standard cabin size, is the smallest at 34L, but is surprisingly spacious, and super light, weighing only 6.17 lbs.

Inside the Etherius, there are two large compartments; one with a mesh top and compression straps so you can fit as much as possible, and the other is a large area with a solid fabric top. The case locks with a 3-digit combination zipper lock. And as an extra perk, the Etherius collection comes with a matching iPhone 7 polycarbonate case in the same sleek silver as the luggage itself.

Rarely, if ever, does Victorinox Swiss Army disappoint, and to be honest, I tried… I really tried to find something to criticize. But I’ve failed. It’s a damn good design, it looks slick and it has a lot of minimalist features that put it over the top. The Etherius collection looks great, and continues with the classy appeal that many experienced travelers expect from Switzerland’s Victorinox Swiss Army. The case feels very strong, even if I were to sit on it, it simply does not buckle. The sleek silver look is modern, yet not over-the-top. The locking mechanism works smoothly, as do the wheels and ascending grip. The Global Carry-on is the perfect size for short trips abroad, and the weight is ideal for anyone looking to travel light. Needless to say, Its ‘Ultra-Strong’ and ‘Lightweight Construction’ claims were indeed true enough. This is a fine series of luggage that will last a lifetime, with proper care and use… So, get traveling!
