Review: Gravity 6 Running Shoes by Newton Running

A quality running shoe can make all the difference in your performance, speed, and ability to stay healthy while exercising. If you’re a runner or an adrenaline junkie who loves the high and the freedom that comes with it, then running early in the morning at some exotic destination may be perfect for you. At least for me, I often imagine being back in Switzerland, and running with the Alps looming not far off in the background. They’re so large that it’s almost as if there were no sky, and only the beauty of the mountains surrounding me. How amazing would that be?!

I’ve never been a heavy duty athletic type, besides some sports when I was younger and the wilderness camping and exploration that I fill my days with now, but I’ve always loved running track. There’s just something about being alone on a track, and being left to my own thoughts, because sometimes I work out new ways of looking at things, new perspectives, and can often find a sane level way to approach an issue I’ve been dealing with. But beyond that, I loved the timing of the day, just as the sun begins to rise, because it’s cool and the humidity hadn’t started to take over the day, and because of all the things in the natural world that we as humans have affected, almost always negatively, the sunrise is something that still proves that we live in an amazing world, with so many wonders that we don’t understand. And besides the beauty and awe I feel at that time of day, it reminds me of who I am and why I am here, and what matters most.

Often now-a-days, I find this sort of contemplation and peace through meditation and floating (sensory deprivation tanks), but running can give you that time and peace, and feeling, too. I recently had the chance to test out and trial the newest model of running shoe, the Gravity 6, by Newton Running. It’s been years since I actively ran, for the simple reason of enjoying it, but these shoes got me back out there and I have to say, it was a blessing.

The Gravity 6 running shoe is a dynamic and versatile shoe, because it fits tight, yet is so comfortable to wear and run in. The material is a lightweight mesh that adheres to your foot, while providing you with support as well as a breathability that I wish I had in my old school running shoes. The material is strong, yet lightweight enough that it almost feels like an extension of my own foot. The tongue is made up of an even wider mesh front, giving the user optimum airflow and comfort, which is fantastic for hot days and long runs.

Beyond the great fit, and other features like breathability and how lightweight these shoes are, the Gravity 6 is especially dynamic because of its tread. The tread pattern starts out thin at the toe and then has a ridge of five thick traction points that allows for optimum take off as well as the ability to maintain speed. So, as each foot touches the ground, the shoe grips for you, then as you roll your foot forward as you run, you gain control over the surface and burst forward in your stride. I found the Gravity 6 running shoe by Newton Running to be a high quality shoe, perfect for serious runners, noncommittal runners and light joggers, as well as athletes in training. They are perfect for me to get back into shape, and for that I am thankful.

Looks like some decent running shoes. That tread is interesting, I feel like it should be more than in one spot. Maybe they're for track only?
