Review: La Sportiva Synthesis Mid GTX

Something I have yet to review on Eye & Pen is a real good, quality pair of hiking shoes. So, without further ado, let's get started – Please welcome La Sportiva Synthesis Mid GTX. I've had my fair share of trying out all sorts of brands and styles and fits of travel and hiking shoes and boots, and never have I felt so ecstatic about a pair, until these graced my feet. When I had the opportunity to give the Synthesis Mid GTXs a go, I was skeptical, then the moment I slipped my foot in and took my first steps, I was hit with an interesting relief. I immediately knew these were my ideal hiking shoes, and that I never wanted to take my foot from them. Okay, that may not be entirely true, at least not the last bit. In all seriousness, the comfort level balanced with the security it offered my ankle blew me away. Now, I'll tell you why...

The Synthesis Mid GTX shoes are built to last, first off – They are strong and hug every aspect of your foot necessary for allowing you the optimum movement and security for the health of your ankles. The material is thick and high quality, and very breathable. Most hiking shoes either skimp on the quality of the material, so they are sweaty and cause your feet either immediate or long-term discomfort. The fit is snug yet complimentary, and the grip provides a dynamic range of movement and slope, making it perfect for elevation hiking.

During my first, long test of the Synthesis Mid GTXs, I found no rubbing, no blisters forming, and I was able to grip steep rock ledges and hard angles at elevation in Colorado. It was hot as hell that day and the La Sportiva's allowed my feet to breathe, essentially prolonging my hikes and the difficulty that I was able to manage and the speed I could maintain. They look great, feel great, and deliver functionality above and beyond any other hiking shoe I've worked with over the years. These will be with me for a long time to come, and when they go, I will replace them with a like model. When writing a product review, I always look to mention negatives but there are none with these shoes, truly... Even the price point fits the quality and make of the product, which that alone is an oddity these days. Big fan!

The LaSportiva Synthesis Mid GTX shoes is a favorite for me personally in the LaSportiva Line. It's Durable and Light but my main reason I love it is that it is a Midtop instead of High.

It is essential to transport your guns, ammo and accessories from one location to another, especially if your passion for shooting has grown. Your gear should be safe and organized with enough space for your accessories, such as optics and ear protection. Range bags are a great solution. Range bags are designed to transport firearms safely and securely. There are many range bags on the market, so finding the right one for you can be challenging.
