Review: Outside Inside Gifts’ Freestyle Dome Ladderball & Cornhole Game

A great game can bring together a family, a group of friends and complete strangers like nothing else can. Sure, one might argue that music or food is a stronger attractor, but from my experience of traveling across the US, and camping, a good outdoor game can create more relationships than just about anything else. Hanging out in a busy campground can be an ultra fun experience, especially when you tie all three of those elements together; I guarantee you’ll have the time of your life if you setup in an open and inviting space, and start a fire, stick some hot dogs on the blaze or steaks on the grill, while others play some tunes and play a game like ladderball or cornhole.

Ever since I was a kid, I loved playing ladderball and cornhole under the summer heat; and with the exception of basketball or tag football, I couldn’t have had a better time doing much else. Then, in my college/young 20’s days, I thoroughly enjoyed a range of other games, many of which tied in wholesome fun with alcohol, like that of beer pong. But now-a-days, it’s the simple joining and competition that brings me joy. Like when my family comes together and plays an intense match of volleyball, basketball, or simply playing catch. There’s just something about the camaraderie of a shared sport that brings a group together.

A major problem for many travelers is having the ability to carry non-essentials like a game, especially cornhole considering the size and weight of the traditional boards; though, most ladderball games break down small and are quite manageable, even for backpackers. Every ounce and every inch of space is extremely valuable for backpackers of all styles and paths, which is one of the main reasons why I thought this dual outdoors game would be of interest to many of you…

Outside Inside Gifts is a manufacturer of fun, especially lightweight and manageable fun. Their Freestyle Dome Ladderball and Cornhole game is the perfect setup for country wide roadtrippers, backpackers, and weekend campers, and is a great collectable for home events, too. Not only does it combine both games, but the game set closes down into a thin bag, which even the most strict backpacker can find room for. Setup and teardown takes about a minute. The game measures in at 39” x 39” x 39”, and the poles are made shock corded fiberglass, and the outer fabric is a rip-stop nylon.

Cornhole and ladderball may be foreign games to some reading this feature, but let me tell you that it may seem goofy looking or bizarre but it’s a whole lot of fun.
