Review: Radha Beauty’s Essential Oils and Diffuser

Essential oils are among the world’s most powerful alternative medicines, because they can be used to improve so many ailments and issues and yet they’re entirely natural. Basically, an essential oil is a super concentrated oil derived from plants, flowers, herbs, trees, roots, and other organic living matter, which then can be applied in a variety of ways like topically in a salve, inhaled via aromatherapy, among other uses. Where almost every hair care product and body wash is loaded with harmful toxins and additives and other chemicals, natural products can be made with the help of essential oils and other things like carrier oils (like coconut oil, avocado, vitamin e, argan, jojoba, etc.), butters (mango, shea butter for example) and waxes (typically beeswax). But in aromatherapy, you don’t need additional items to take advantage of its healing* effects.

With aromatherapy, you’re basically inhaling the aroma of the extract to gain the soothing, healing and uplifting properties of the plant. Per naha.org, “Aromatherapy, also referred to as Essential Oil therapy, can be defined as the art and science of utilizing naturally extracted aromatic essences from plants to balance, harmonize and promote the health of body, mind and spirit.” So, for example, when you’re feeling sluggish, you can put a citrus (like lemon, grapefruit, or orange) essential oil in a diffuser and breathe it in for its uplifting and energetic effects. If you have trouble sleeping, or fight with insomnia, then try lavender (the best smelling flower in the world!), vetiver, chamomile, bergamot, or ylang ylang. Other ways you can take advantage of the positive properties in essential oils is by simply apply some rope to a massage or a bath. Do not apply directly to the skin, but use a diffusing oil, like one of the above mentioned carrier oils, as some irritations are possible.

I recently teamed up with Radha Beauty, and they sent me their 500ml Aromatherapy Diffuser and their set of 18 different essential oils to try out (click here to see what’s all included). I’ve worked with a few different essential oil companies, and I’ve learned that purity level and quality of ingredients are as important as what plant you’re trying to use. While I’ve honestly found better quality oils out there, Radha Beauty keeps their prices low and very affordable for what variety they offer. I can not say much as to the overall quality of what they use to distill and extract from, but the aromas are decent, and their 18 set is good for beginners who want to see what works best for them and their own personal situation.

The diffuser is bigger than others I’ve worked with, and is a bit difficult to remove the top lid, but that doesn’t make it any less cool. Aesthetically, the diffuser is pretty striking with its wood texture finish. Their diffuser gives off a cool mist from the top that joins water and essential oil together from the basin below. It has colored LED lights that change and alternate, an auto shut-off feature, and adjustable mist modes for shorter and longer durations. All in all, I found that Radha Beauty’s 500ml diffuser works great, is a decor piece all by itself and is capable of relaxing me after a hard day, while also being useful for when I have bouts of insomnia, headaches, and anxiety. Their essential oil set is fun to play with as there are so many choices!
