Reviewing Fallkniven’s A1Pro Blade & FH9 Mother of Pearl

When it comes to survival gear, a blade can go a long way toward one’s survival in most situations, and there’s no one better in the world than Sweden’s Fallkniven. Their craftsmanship, forging, finishing, and beautifying capabilities are premier and it shows in each and every one of their blades. First, I bring you their A1Pro survival blade.

Fallkniven is so confident that they distinguish themselves with the following statement, ‘There are basic survival knives, and there are survival knives for the professional.’ And I can confidently back them up on that point, because when you’re up against Nature’s best, you need a special kind of knife that can go through hell with you, or else you may be left with a splintered blade and a dwindling hope of survival.

The A1Pro is a gorgeous survival knife that can withstand the worst. The blade is a shiny, silvery laminate cobalt steel (lam. CoS) that ensures a durable edge and high quality edge retention. The thickness of the blade is what sets it apart from most competing survival blades, at 7mm, with a hardness of 60 HRC. The A1Pro skimps at nothing, weighing in at 363-grams with a length of 283mm total. Fallkniven has created the A1Pro to be an all-weather knife to ensure longevity for sake of survival, and they back that up with a lifetime warranty. You can’t get much better than that!

The next knife I’d like to feature is the FH9 Mother of Pearl edition folding blade by Fallkniven. While most pocket knives don’t come as pretty as this Mother of pearl beauty, the FH9 is still a utility knife. Take away the high end materials used to make this knife a luxury item, and you’re left with a very well made folding knife that is built to last decades of day-to-day use. The blade is made of 3G steel at a hardness of 62, weighing 95-grams with a total length of 158mm.

While the FH9 is indeed a luxury knife for those who wish to treat themselves, it is a working work of art. The mother of pearl paneling is pristine and flashy, and glitters and shines in light. For a pocket knife, it’s a bit heavy, but when you know you’re carrying MOP, then weight means nothing, and to be honest, none of Fallkniven’s blades are lightweight, because they put their pride on the line each time they produce something with their name on it. And that’s a pride that I see that translates into their work. The aesthetics are impressive, the feel is perfection and the functionality are top of the line, with a reliable locking system that provides user safety when not in use.

Overall, I can’t find a single criticism… Fallkniven is the best, hands down. They continually blow me away with their craftsmanship. If you would like to learn more about Fallkniven, click here.
