1. Barcelona’s Park Güell is a remarkable garden complex designed by Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí. It was built between the years of 1900 to 1914 and is now one of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites. It’s difficult to sum up one's wonderment and feelings from the quirky beauty of Park Güell. This is definitely a place to have your own magical, personal experience, with its mosaic sculptures, unique terraces, columns, stone walls and elements of religious mysticism.

2. The Segovia Castle or Alcázar of Segovia is a stone fortification located in the heart of the old city, that rises out of the rocky crags above the Eresma and Clamores rivers. The castle was originally built as a fortress, but has served as a royal palace, military academy and a state prison since. Most notably known to outsiders, the Segovia Castle is known as one of the inspirations of Walt Disney‘s famous Cinderella Castle.

3. Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife is held every February on the Canary Islands, where it attracts people from all over the world. Internationally known, the carnival is said to be second to only the Rio Carnival in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Over a million people visit the festival in hopes of experiencing the official parade and concerts - however, even more popular is the ‘Carnival of the streets,’ where over a hundred groups throw parties, theater shows and concerts.

4. The beaches of Formentera are renowned for their pristine white beaches - and their lax rules of nude sunbathing. Formentera is a small island at just over 32 square miles and is located south east of Valencia.

5. Pueblos Blancos or the White Towns of Andalusia are a series of towns and large villages in the most southern part of Spain. The villages create a brilliant picturesque view with their uniform whitewashed walls and red-brown tiled roofs. Andalusia’s white towns allow visitors a unique insight into countryside living in Spain, however they also offer activities like horseback riding, hiking, pot-holing and rock-climbing.

6. The Picos de Europa is a mountain range 20 kilometers inland from the northern coast of Spain. Picos de Europa literally means the Peaks of Europe. They were often the first sight of Europe for many ships arriving from the Americas. The highest point of elevation is 8,694 feet (2,650 m) and cover an area of 249 square miles. Various animals such as brown bears, wolves and sheep are native to this region. The Picos de Europa contain many of the world’s deepest caves, with the deepest reaching 1589 meters.

8. The Running of the Bulls is the famous week long event, a part of the San Fermín festival in Pamplona. Every July, the festival starts at noon on the 6th and ends at midnight on the 14th. The first documented San Fermín was held in the 14th century. Running with the bulls is known worldwide for its high energy dash through a course of sectioned-off town’s streets. Anyone of the age of 18 or older can participate, however 200-300 suffer injuries every year, with 15 deaths being recorded since 1924.

9. Basílica i Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família (Basilica and Expiatory Church of the Holy Family) or more commonly known as the Sagrada Família is a large Roman Catholic church in Barcelona. Another wicked-looking and unique creation of Antoni Gaudí. The Basilica’s construction broke ground in 1882 and continues to this day. In November 2010, Pope Benedict XVI consecrated and proclaimed the Sangrada Família as a minor basilica. It’s also another one of Spain’s 44 UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

The architectural style of the plaza is classified from the Spanish Renaissance Revival with the Neo-Mudéjar movement. The plaza is located in the Parque de María Luisa (Maria Luisa Park) which features a half mile of tiled fountains, ponds, pavilions, and beaches.
