It is TV shows and documentaries era, and we live in it. TV shows and documentaries are hugely popular among people in their 60s, but why? We saw this Age UK Mobility article about over 60s viewing habits and it got us thinking why TV shows and documentaries could be so popular with people over the age of 60. Netflix is one of the most popular media service providers and it streams countless shows and movies. It is a life-changing platform for many, triggering daily life with a splash of fun and bliss. It is suitable for people of all ages, with adult shows, teen shows, and also a “Kids” account with content for children.
Over 60s have more time on their hands
Senior citizens usually have more time on their hands and with so many TV shows and documentaries there is a lot you can binge-watch. A show can also make a person look forward to watching the day after, or the day after that. There is so much to choose from! The specific type depends on mood and personal taste.

Humour and drama
Watching shows on streaming services can add laughter to your day, and some are very entertaining as there are Game Shows / Trivia, which challenge the mind are a popular option. There are documentaries for those who like informative content as well as reality shows which offer eye-catching situations. There are lots of options available!

Here are some suggestions you can watch divided by categories:
Comedies & Drama: (with series descriptions)
Grace and Frankie - "They are not friends, but when their husbands leave them for each other, Emmy and eccentric Frankie begin bonding in this Emmy-nominated series."
Madame Secretary - "When a highly talented woman becomes Secretary of State, she is struggling to strike a balance between the demands of world politics and her family."

Game Show / Trivia: (With Series descriptions)
Minute to win it - Contestants compete in this game show organized by Apollo Anton Ohno by solving 60-second challenges using various sports products that use items commonly found around the house.
Jeopardy! - Alex Trebek hosts one of the longest-running game shows on television, where a trio of players resonates with their knowledge of history, art, pop culture, and more. It is a classic game show - with a twist. Answers are given first, and contestants supply questions. Three players, including the previous show winner, compete in six categories and three rounds (with responses from each round being worth more prize money).

Documentaries: (with description)
Planet Earth- Glossy, cutting-edge high-definition imagery enhances this incredible documentary series featuring footage of some of the world's most awe-inspiring natural wonders, ranging from oceans to deserts to polar ice caps.
Conclusion: It is important to note that over 60s viewing habits should be limited in the interests of their sleeping habits. And even though hours can fly by while watching shows or movies, exercising regularly is essential for seniors! Taking a pause and taking an afternoon stroll is beneficial. We hope the suggestions raised in this article helped.
