Welcome to Eye & Pen, a travel blog exploring the world through photos and stories. I’m Jessica, the solo traveler behind this site, which I launched in 2020 as a place to share my travel adventures from over 10 years of wandering.

My travel obsession started as a kid when my parents would pile our family of 4 into a trailer to roadtrip across the U.S. and Canada. After college, I got the travel bug again and have since backpacked through Europe and Asia, explored over 30 countries and counting, and taken numerous road trips across the U.S. in search of stunning natural wonders.

As a travel blogger and freelance writer/photographer, I now split my time working remotely and hitting the open road. My passion is to experience new cultures and capture my perspective through writing and photography. You’ll find practical trip-planning tips, inspired stories of interesting people I meet, gorgeous photography of must-see destinations, and recommendations for getting off the beaten path.

I specialize in adventure travel and unique lodging like houseboats, yurts, treehouses, and more. I also focus on budget travel, road trips travel hacking, and traveling solo as a petite woman. My site has been featured in Travel + Leisure, Matador Network, The Denver Post, Business Insider, and other major publications.
